Local Music
Jazz @ the Star & Garter

There are plenty of talented musicians in and around Falmouth, Cornwall, UK. For a broad picture of the local scene visit and participate in Falmusic an interactive site, for and about them.

Claudia, Max, Pip & Alan @ the Star & Garter

As a big fan of jazz, my personal favourites are the trio (and guests) playing for free every Monday night at the Star & Garter pub in Falmouth (check falmusic.co.uk for details on who's on in any given week). I record many of their gigs on minidisc. They deserve much wider recognition, and we are happy to make available some samples of their work here as mp3s in the downloads section (registered users only - registration is free)

Sample tracks of tasty jazzy improv by local band Jooz Blunkenfazz are also available.

(Falmusic has links to these files, and those of other local musicians as well).

Some tracks are also available here as streaming audio for those with Real Player:

John Woollams "Straight no chaser" (star&garter 10-5-04)

John Woollams "Friday night at the Cadillac Club" (star&garter 10-5-04)

John Cox "500 miles high" (star&garter 17-5-04)

John Cox "Equinox" (star&garter 17-5-04)

Alan Thompson "Without a song" (star&garter 24-5-04)

Alan Thompson "Take the Coltrane" (star&garter 24-5-04)

Jooz Blunkenfazz "Midnight Roundabout" (studio)

Jooz Blunkenfazz "Another Drop of No Sweat" (live)

Yoko Hashimoto "Spin-Out" (!!!??!!)
